September of Danzig

Probably the best month I've had in my little life. The big thing that happened was seeing Danzig, DANZIG live!!! Not once but twice!

I went to see him in San Antonio, Texas, September 11th and in Houston, Texas, September 12th. Those were his first two dates of this tour since he last did a show back in March 2025. I grew up idolizing and listening and preaching this man's music like it was a gift from god. I dreamt and wished to see him live one day but never ever did I really think that was possible. My life looking back just never presented a opportunity. There was a small, very small crack that appeared back in 2023. He was going to have a show in Houston. But I chickened out because I just could never negotiate the responsibility of taking care of my mom. So I didn't go. But as luck would have it Danzig cancelled the show anyways. I guess he knew I wasn't going to go.

So a few months ago in May, before my birthday, June 16th, there were rumors that he was going to have a tour. I follow his main circle of people on instagram who tend to know officially when anything is happening in the Danzig world. When I saw that I immediately made the decision if that were to be true, I'd go without any doubt or reason to not be able to go. The only responsiblity I have now is my 11 year old dog. Which is becoming more of a responsibility because of her few health issues she's acquired. None the less she's a trooper and is always down for a road trip.

Suddenly the rumors became true, June 16th Danzig official channel announced the tour. Now if that isn't prophecy I don't know what is. On my birthday! So being a member of the Danzig official newsletter and also of the old school 7th House website group, I had access to tickets before general public. On June 19th I bought my tickets! I'd be going to see Danzig September 11th, 2026 in San Antonio with my best bud from middle school Jorge and my cousin Ruben. Next day I'd drive back to Houston to see the next day show with my brother Freddy. Just an FYI... my brother Freddy was babysitting Cositas while I was in San Antonio.

It was incredible even now as I think back to those two days and especially being at those venues how intimate it felt and privilaged to be able to sit and be in the standing crowd seeing my favorite band of all time. Many times it went through my head that I was seeing Danzig in person and that he saw me and I saw him in person. This kid from Brownsville, Texas saw his idol in person after all these decades. The shows were amazing, he did not seem his age. He was into it and soaking it in and we were soaking him in as well. He had us singing each word. A nice touch was in the Houston show seeing the trailer of his upcoming Hellmask comic book character soon to be movie. At first I was like, what am I seeing, Lord of the Rings trailer!? Then I saw the Hellmask character and it hit me and I knew what I was seeing. So cool and so incredible to have lived to be able to tell!

I love Danzig and I don't love or like anything other than my mom and my little dog. But Danzig just like my mom and dog, have never let me down. I wish I could replay those two days for the rest of my life. I felt so alive and happy. That is something that is extremely rare in my life. I just try to reflect, remember, and realize that it actually happened. It happened to me!
